In managed care credentialing, delegation is defined as a formal process by which an organization gives another entity the authority and responsibility to perform certain functions on its behalf through a contractual arrangement. Delegation can provide many benefits to both health plans and the delegated entities, but there are also risks involved. It is up to both the health plan and delegated entity to evaluate the potential relationship and determine whether delegation is appropriate for them and can support their goals.
This special report will focus on the processes of delegated credentialing based on accreditation requirements and outline the benefits and challenges of delegation from the perspectives of both the health plan and the delegated entity.
